Appletree Closes

The Appletree Inn closed its doors for the final time last night after a farewell party for Mel & TJ. They will be moving to a new business locally soon and their progress can be followed by visiting www.appletreeinn.co.uk

It appears that our pub will re-open under new management shortly; more information as it becomes available.

The pub signs come down for removal of the Appletree design and logo.

WI Celebrates 50 years

Normanby & Marton WI has received a certificate commemorating its 50 years of WI membership. The certificate is to be laminated and displayed in the Mission Room.

Marton: A Short History

Professor Richard Lawton's book, "Marton A Short History" was officially launched at a reception in the Marton Mission Room on 22nd April 2009. Richard was present to sign copies of this excellent book which covers the history of Marton from the Bronze age to the modern day. Marton to Lose Its Pub?

It is sad that the reappearence of this website coincides with the imminent departure of Mel & TJ Drew from our village pub. Having spent the past 8 years hard at work resulting in the Appletree winning many awards including the prestigious National Dining Pub of the Year 2008, they recently issued this press release:

Old Signposts Refurbished

A number of old style signposts in the region have been refurbished and now look resplendent again. This example is from the Sinnington junction on  Marton Lane.
