Marton: A Short History

Professor Richard Lawton's book, "Marton A Short History" was officially launched at a reception in the Marton Mission Room on 22nd April 2009. Richard was present to sign copies of this excellent book which covers the history of Marton from the Bronze age to the modern day.

The book is 171 pages long and contains 10 Figures, 4 Tables and 49 photographs. In addition there are two paintings by local artist Renee Clark, one of which adorns the book's cover.

The book has chapters on: Medieval times, Tudors to Hanoverians, early eighteenth to early nineteenth century Marton, Victorian and Edwardian Marton, Twentieth Century Marton and The Village Today. The photographs  help to give a superb impression of Marton life through the ages.
